Fundraiser Seminar in Negros

Greetings of Peace!

Several years ago, I attended a seminar on the Basic of Fund Raising in Manila. It cost the foundation more than Php12,000 for the seminar fee, airfare and lodging. Nevertheless, every peso spent by the foundation was worth it as it brought back to the foundation thousands of pesos more!

I would constantly invite people I know who are into fund raising as well to attend the seminar but their usual response is this: “Our group just can’t afford.”

As Tapulanga Foundation celebrates 10 blessed years of an increasing and growing donor base, we have decided to SHARE this blessing to others. We are but a small organization and we know many can relate to us. Surprisingly, many take it for granted or are not aware that there are lessons to be learned in raising funds. Many fail or have a hard time raising funds because they lack the know-how on how to do it.

Fundraising is something that most non-profits and NGOs aspire to do well so we put together this seminar with experts who can share their knowledge and experience to the community. It is our hope as well that you have something to share, your experience in fund raising in your own way, that can help all of us.

I hope that you will be able to join us and learn a lot and go home with a renewed spirit to raise more funds for your organization.

Giving and Receiving

The Tapulanga Foundation distributed 13 bags of clothes and shoes, mostly coming from the U.S.A., to 35 families: 58 fathers/mothers and 85 children last Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Our Lady of the Nativity chapel in Hacienda Tinihaban, Silay City.

Twelve Micro-Credit Beneficiaries

The micro-credit program of the Tapulanga Foundation is helping women / mothers with capital for their small businesses.

As of October 2010, the following businesses are beneficiaries of the program: bakery, cellphone loading, livestock slaughtering, Avon and Natasha dealer, frozen food, piggery, mini store, service for hire, barbecue food, and school canteen vendor.

Most of these loans are from Php2,000 - Php5,000 and payable in 1 - 2 months only at 1% a month interest rate (with zero collateral). Of the 12 beneficiaries, no one has missed their weekly/bi-monthly payments. Several have been highly motivated to even settle their loan before the due date so as to borrow again and have more capital for their growing business. Some of them as well started with a small loan and have increased their loan.

The foundation is looking for donors for this program. You will not only help a person but an entire family because you will be providing livelihood for these mothers.

Search-In Circle 9

Search-In Circle 9 was held last September 24 - 26, 2010. Thank you for all those who prayed! Thank you for all those who sponsored some of the students. Thank you for all the alumni, both from SFAS and La Salle-Bacolod, who helped facilitate.

As 1 Concert

SFAS students with a faculty and staff member watched the first provincial tour of Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera entitled "As 1" last October 13, 2010 at the USLS Coliseum, Bacolod City. It was a 3 hour concert filled with nothing but "pure energy" and entertainment!
